1. Linear Algebra

Four points on a cubic polynomial are given as (-1, -10), (1, -4) (2, 2) and (0,-4). Find the equation to the polynomial.

2. Re: Linear Algebra

Have you tried anything so far?

The equation of cubic is $\displaystyle y = a\,x^3 + b\,x^2 + c\,x + d$. Can you substitute the four points to give four equations that you can solve simultaneously for a,b,c,d?

3. Re: Linear Algebra

first calculate d by subtituting the point (0,-4) and then the other 3 coefficients
