# Math Help - Multi Step Equations, and a little multiplication/division trouble

1. ## Multi Step Equations, and a little multiplication/division trouble

i have been doing some normal homework, and i have reached a few barricades...
heres an example of the first type.
-4
-- = 72
5
-4 -5
- • -
5 4
they cancel out..
-5
- • 72
4

-5 72
- --
4 1

4 and 72 simplify to 1 and 18..

-5 18=90
- --= -
1 1= 1
bring the X down and simplify 90 over 1..
x=90

Solving Equations: Solve the Equation.
41.
T = L
-2= 2

43.
3 ,,, 1
-z -5-
4 ,,, 2
*note, commas are used simply for spacing purposes, they are not truly in the problem.
44.
1 ,,,, 2
-y= 5 -
3 ,,,, 3
now the Multi Step Equations...these caused me a lil bit more confusion

32.
-4
- (x+3) = 27
9

33.
17 = 2(3x+1) - x

34.
4x
-- + 3 = 23
3

35.
,,,,,,,,, 7x
-10 = 4- 4

36.
,,,,,,, 1
-10 = -x+x
,,,,,,, 2

again, commas are purely for spacing. thanks in advance

for the 1st one, where is x?

41) $\frac{T}{-2}=\frac{L}{2}$
multiply 2 to both sides of equation, then
$-T=L$

43) where is the equal sign?

44) $\frac{1}{3}y = 5\frac{2}{3}$ multiply 3 to both sides,
$\rightarrow \, y=(5)(2)=10$

32) $\frac{-4}{9}(x+3) = 27$, multiply $\frac{-9}{4}$, you have $x+3 = 27\frac{-9}{4}$
$\rightarrow \, x=27\frac{-9}{4} -3 = \frac{-324-12}{4}=\frac{-336}{4} = -84$

33) $17 = 2(3x+1) - x \, \rightarrow \, 17 = 6x + 2 -x \, \rightarrow \, 15 = 5x \, \rightarrow x=3
$

34) $\frac{4x}{3} + 3 = 23 \, \rightarrow \, \frac{4x}{3} = 20 \, \rightarrow \, 4x=15 \, \rightarrow x=\frac{15}{4}$

can you do the last 2?
