# Thread: Weird problem with my problem

1. ## Weird problem with my problem

$\frac{sinx+1}{sinx+1}$ if I call $(sinx+1)=a$ then we have $\frac{a}{a}=1$ however when I split the original problem up I get $\frac{sinx}{sinx}+\frac{1}{1}=2$ I know I am just doing something silly but what is it?

2. ## Re: Weird problem with my problem

Paze
is this a type of joke? how you split the fraction?
please respect the rules of algebra...there is no such split...you have to split sinx/(sinx+1) then 1/(sinx+1)
and of course it will never give you 2.....

$\frac{a+1}{a+1}= 1$ for any $a\ne -1$. No, $\frac{a+1}{a+ 1}\ne \frac{a}{a}+ \frac{1}{1}= 2$.

Haha of course. Why the hell couldn't I spot the obvious issue. I know these rules like the back of my hand...
