
Word Problem
A submarine is cruising at a depth of 195 meters beneath the oceans' surface and begins rising toward the surface at a constant rate of 12 meters per minute.
Write an equation relating the submarine's position and the amount of time is has been rising...
Just need help setting up the equation. Thanks in advance!!!

All linear functions are of the form "Dependent Variable = Rate x Independent Variable + Initial Value.
Surely you can read off the Rate and the Initial Value...

at zero time sub is at depth d 195 m
after t minutes d= 195 12t when sub is at surface d=0 t= 16.25m

We can take initial time to be zero. So the dependent variable depth = rate i.e., 12 m per minute
so we have h = 12 x t where h is height in meter through which the submarine rises and t the time it has been rising.
