    linear equations

    Consider the system of equations

    x-3y = 2
    -2x+y=-10

    (a) Write down the tabular form of this system of equations.
    (b) Using row operations find the exact answer for (x,y). Make sure you show intermediate steps.

I know how to do this using substition + elimination but I'm not sure what the question is asking me.
Is it asking me to put it into matrices form and then solve somehow?

Yes. Put it into matrix form and use row reduction to solve for (x,y).
