Trying to find the intercept of a pendulum graphing prac

I am using Open Office and have graphed both Time and Time squared to produce the graph. There might be a trick in Open Office Calc to give me the intercept but i havent found it .

Can I get some help calculating the intercept of the two lines , or should I just estimate ? (Bow)Attachment 27146

Hey carlyn.

What do you mean by the intercept? Is it the y-intercept or maybe the point of intersection (or something else)?

I was not sure but I think its the y - intercept of the one or both lines ? I think it involves a quadratic equation ? Thats how far behind I am :(

if you could just help with the y-intercept and also tell me why you would want the y intercept. Thanks for responding, Carlyn.

For the y-intercept, just plug in x = 0 into your equation and you'll get the answer for that function.

can you see the equation made by open office calc f(x) = 0.242X + 0.0090 well it looks like that , well what is it ? Please ! Can you type it out in simple terms whats it for ? Looks like function of X = a number * X + another mystery number . I'm three weeks late starting school cause i was in hospital and I feel really left behind. I am going to do 48 hours of math over the weekend , or as much as I can handle :)

Yeah use each function and plug in x = 0 to get the y-intercept for that particular function.

do you mean the function i just typed above ? I dont even know if f is a variable or just a way to state function ?

and isn't 0.242X going to be 0 ?

f(x) is the function of x where f means function.

ok chiro, thanks, I think come Sunday night if i put in the effort over weekend (its Wednesday afternoon in Queensland Aust.) to catch up a lot of things will make sense that don't. :)
