Thread: Linear Recurrence System

Hi,

Im in desperate need of some help for the following:

X1=1000 Xn+1 = 1.15xn-240 (n=1,2,3.......)

I need a closed form for the sequence, the 10th term and the long-term behavior of the sequence.

Im getting different answers I try so guess im not doing it properly!

Any help would be appreciated!

This is an inhomogeneous (because of -240) linear recurrence relation with constant coefficients. This section of the Wiki page shows how to reduce it to homogeneous linear recurrence relation with constant coefficients, and this and this sections show how to solve the latter.
