# Math Help - Describe the relationship between your solution and this graph

1. ## Describe the relationship between your solution and this graph

Hi, I need some help understanding this question.

x is the amount spent on advertising, in thousands of dollars.
Equation: P = -5x2 +550x -5000
The question asks for the x at P(x) = 0. which I have solved
x1=10 and x2 = 100

The part I need help with is this:
Describe the relationship between your solution and this graph of the corresponding relation.

y-axis = Profit ($1000) x-axis = x ($1000)

I do not understand what its asking me, the solution I have matches the graph. is this some sort of a trick question?

2. ## Re: Describe the relationship between your solution and this graph

Hey SohailS.

I don't know what its asking either, but you can say that the solution you got matches with the graph of the profit function.

You should ask your teacher to be more specific in the future.

Alright thanks. I was just going to write that as well.

I think the relationship is that the graph of P(x) intersects the x-axis at the points whose first coordinates are the numbers you found, i.e., you found the x-intercepts of P(x).

I agree that the question is vague.
