I just started my new semester, and i forgot how to solve these equations !
$\displaystyle y= 1/2(x-1)^2+2$
The 1/2 means that the y values will get halved. So in$\displaystyle y = x^2$ when x =1 y = 1 but in$\displaystyle y=1/2(x)^2$ when x=1 , y = 0.5
The (x-1)^2 means that your parabola shifts 1 unit to the right
The +2 means that it moves up 2 unites.
The blue parabola is the transformed one and the red parabola is x^2
