    Need Help on transformations!

    So, list the transformations you need to apply to y=x^2 to graph the relation. Then sketch the graph.
    a) y= 1/2(x-1)^2+2

    I just started my new semester, and i forgot how to solve these equations !

    y= 1/2(x-1)^2+2

    The 1/2 means that the y values will get halved. So in  y = x^2 when x =1 y = 1 but in  y=1/2(x)^2 when x=1 , y = 0.5

    The (x-1)^2 means that your parabola shifts 1 unit to the right

    The +2 means that it moves up 2 unites.

    The blue parabola is the transformed one and the red parabola is x^2
