Hey xdamagedxkissesx. Just expand out both sides and try and solve for y: there is nothing mysterious about the question.
3/4(y – 1/5) = 1/8(y + 2/5) 3/4[(5y – 1)/5] = 1/8[(5y + 2)/5] 3/20[(5y – 1)] = 1/40[(5y + 2)] 3(5y – 1)/20 = 1(5y + 2)/40 --------- LCM 40 [6(5y – 1) = 1(5y + 2)]/40 30y – 6 = 5y + 2 25y = 8 y = 8/25 ----- 1 value
The correct answer is 4/35.
simplify 3/4y-3/20= -1/8y-2/40 30y-6=-5y-2 35y=4 y=4/35
