    Square root problem

    I have this problem: the square root of 2 divided by 2, all in parenthesis, raised to the second power. How is the answer 1 divided by 2? I would think 1 divided by four....

    (\frac{\sqrt{2}}{2})^2 = \frac{\sqrt{2}}{2} * \frac{\sqrt{2}}{2} = \frac{2}{4} = \frac{1}{2}
