    Simplifying quotients?

    For (x^n+1)(y^n)/(x^n)(y^n-1) I got it equal to xy^-1, is that correct?

    no.

    Use properties of powers:

    \frac{x^{n+1} y^n}{x^n y^{n-1}}=x^{n+1-n} y^{n-(n-1)}=xy
