    What was the total amount that he put on his charge card?

    Isaiah and Chakshu went to dinner at Chili's restaurant and received a bill for $35. Isaiah paid the bill along with an additional 20% tip on his charge card. What was the total amount that he put on his charge card?

    Re: What was the total amount that he put on his charge card?

    20% is  \frac{20}{100}

    So you need 20% of 35$.

    To do so you multiply  20%*35 = \frac{20}{100}*35= 7

    there we've the tip.
    But isaiah also paid the Chili, so the amount paid is: The bill + tip = 35 + 7 = 42.

    Note
    Another way to do it is to realise that if he give 20% tip, he pay 120% of the total bill.
    So he pay 120%*35= \frac{120}{100}*35=42
