Although it is easy to trace your question from the given answer, it is better if you present your questions in ways that can be understood by all. You tried, basing from your correct use of parentheses, but the two "square" did not help. I assume you did not know yet that "a^2" is the symbol for "a,squared" or "a, square" or "square of a"Originally Posted by samarox16
If you like to learn/use LaTex, the "a^2" will appear as the familiar "a, squared" as you would write it on paper.
(-1/3)[(1/6)^2]*[(-1/3)(1/6) -(-1/3)^2]
= (-1/3)(1/36)*[(-1/18) -(1/9)]
= (-1/108)*[(-1 +2(-1))/18]
= (-1/108)*[(-3)/18]
= (-1/108)(-1/6)
= 1/648 ------------------answer.
