Can anyone show me the solution to these answers step by step?
|22 - 32| - |5 - 7|
The answer, according to the book is -1 but the answer I keep getting is 1

(3 - √9) - (-5 - 1.3)

-3

My book says the answer is -2.1; I don't know why or how my they subtracted subtracted .2 from 1.3. I need the solutions, all help is appreciated, please and thank you!

Are you sure that you posted the problem correctly??

$|2^2-3^2|-|5-7| =$

$|4-9|-|5-7| =$

$|-5|-|-2| =$

$\boxed{5-2 = 3 }$

1. The answer in the book is correct.

2. $\frac{\overbrace{(3-\sqrt{9})}^{= 0}-(-5-1.3)}{-3}=$

$\frac{-(-6.3)}{-3}=$

$\boxed{\frac{(-3)(-2.1)}{-3}= -2.1}$

Sadly yes the book is right. I'm getting 3 and 1 the ways I did it but I can't seem to reach -1

For the second part, I understand that -(-5 -1.3)/ -3 = -(-6.3)/ -3, but may I ask what you did in the boxed part? Why did you factor (- 6.3) and what happened to the - sign outside the parenthesis?

Thank you

I am assuming the first problem was #67 in your text. You did not copy it down correctly. The textbook's solution is correct. 2 is cubed, not squared.
