    I'm confused

To divide a fraction by another, you flip the one you are dividing by to get the reciprocal and then multiply

    5/8 '/. 2/3 = 5/8 x 3/2

    5 x 3 = 15
    8 x 2 = 16

    therefore 15/16 which = 0.9375

    However 5/8 = 0.625

Divide this by 3 and you get 5/24
so x2 and you get 10/24

    10/24 /= 15/16

i suppose you are confused that you did not get the same answer? well, you shouldn't. what you did afterwards amounted to computing $\displaystyle \frac 58 \times \frac 23$

if you wanted to get the same result with two different operations, you need to take 5/8, divide it by 1/3 and then divide the answer again by 2
