# Thread: volume of the pool

1. ## volume of the pool

How many cubic feet of water must be pumped into swimming pool 8ft long,
45 ft wide and raise the water by 2ft.

Attempt

V = 45 ft x 8 ft x 2ft (2) = 1440 ft^3

can anybody correct my work

thanks

How did you get the additional 2?

The answer is just V = 45ft x 8ft x 8ft = 720 ft^3

How did you get the other 8ft sir?
It says raise the water by 2ft. Why is it that the 2ft not included?
Hope you help me understand the problem sir.

Thanks

The second 8 in the expression for the volume is just a typo. It should be a 2.
