    Word Problem! help please!

    I don't know even where to start on this but here it is, any help is appreciated!

    My friend and I are 5 miles apart, and we start travelling towards each other at the same time, 5:00. I travel on foot at 3 miles per hour, while my friend rides a bicylcle at 12 miles per hour. I want to know when we'll meet.

    a.) Pick a variable to stand for the number of hours that have passed.
    b.) Find an algebraic expression, using your variable, for the number of miles that i've Travelled.
    c.) Also an algebraic expression, using your variable, for the number of miles traveled by my friend.
    d.) Using your answers to parts b and c, find an expression for the total number of miles that we've travelled.
    e.) Set up an eqation for the problem.
    f.)Solve this equation.
    THANK YOU AND PLEASE HELP!

    distance = rate*time

    a) t -----------in hours
    b) 3t ----------in miles
    c) 12t ---------in miles
    d) 3t +12t ----in miles
    e) 3t +12t = 5

    f) 15t = 5
    t = 5/15 = 1/3 hr = 20 minutes.
    Therefore, after third of an hour, or after 20 minutes, you'll meet.
