Basically they want you to do $\displaystyle x^a x^b = x^{a+b} $ For ex, $\displaystyle 2^2 * 2^3 = 2^{2+3} $
$\displaystyle a^8b^4 \cdot a^8b^9 = a^{8+8}b^{4+9}$
