You could arrange as:

$\displaystyle x+\sqrt{x}=0$

$\displaystyle \sqrt{x}(\sqrt{x}+1)=0$

Since $\displaystyle 0\le\sqrt{x}$ we must have:

$\displaystyle \sqrt{x}=0$

$\displaystyle x=0$
