Need help simplifying this equation...
Hi all Thanks in advance for help! Trying to simplify: (x-a)^2 = b I believe the answer is x = a+b or a-b... can you please show working? Thanks!

Re: Need help simplifying this equation...
If by simplify you mean solve for x then

$\left ( x-a \right )^{2}=b$

Take the square root of both sides $x-a=\sqrt{b}$

Add a to both sides to give $x=\pm \sqrt{b}+a$

Re: Need help simplifying this equation...
Which is close to your answer if you write it this way

$x=a\pm \sqrt{b}$
