Thread: can someone check my math please?

i have 3 equations and i have to solve for a,b,c

the equations:
a=4.3-0.056b-51.2c
b=20.76-51.2a-4130.1c
c=0.352-0.055a-0.009b

i got
a=3.47
b=42.3
c=-0.003

it would be great if someone could just double check my work. thanks

You can double-check your own work just by plugging the values back into your equations. However the first equation fails miserably.

What method are you expected to use to solve this?

there's no required method. we're just suppose to solve for the letters.

i took the equation of b and plugged it into a
and got a=3.92+15.11c

then i plugged that equation into c
and got b=15.2-1034.4c

then plugged that one onto equation b and got b=6.9-3606.2c

then using the two b equations:
b=15.2-1034.4c
b=6.9-3606.2c
got c= -0.003

since a=3.92+15.11c
and c= -0.003
a= 3.47

then b=42.3

i guess i made a calculation mistake somewhere. i'll go back and redo it.
