Logarithm Question
A ship embarked on a long voyage. At the start of the voyage, there were 300 ants in the cargo hold of the ship. One week into the voyage, there were 600 ants. Suppose the population of ants is an exponential function of time.
There also was an exponentially-growing population of anteaters on board. At the start of the voyage there were 19 anteaters, and the population of anteaters doubled every 2.9 weeks.
1. How long into the voyage were there 200 ants per anteater? (Round your answer to one decimal place.)
How would I approach this problem? I am very confused.

Re: Logarithm Question
How would you express the populations as functions of time?

Re: Logarithm Question
Hey VARSOFFON.
The first thing to do is to formulate the right model and solve for the unknowns: exponentially growing populations are of the form f(x) = a*e^(bx) for constants and and b (exponentially increasing means b > 0).
Now you have two models you need to solve (for a and b for each model) given the information and once you do this you can find the answer.
