If we have defined a function to be f(x) = x^4-x^3+x^2-x then we want to find g(-14)

f(x) = x^4-x^3+x^2-x => g(-14) = (-14)^4-(-14)^3+(-14)^2-(-14) = 41370

$\displaystyle \left g(x)=x^4-x^3+x^2-x=x^3(x-1)+x(x-1)=(x-1)(x^3+x)=(-14-1)(-14^3-14)=-15(-2744-14)=41370$.
