1. ## Rearranging formula

Hi,

I am struggling to rearrange the following formula:

........ ( A x (1 + G) )
-------------------------- = B
(W + R - G) x (1 + W + R)

I need to rearrange so that it is W = [formula]

If anyone could provide a solution that would be great.

Thanks

2. ## Re: Rearranging formula

1) In your mind's eye, W is the only variable. Despite all those letters, think of everything else as a number, like 7 or -3, and manipulate it that way. It's just W and a bunch of numbers.

2) Clear fractions (i.e. multiply both sides of the equation by something that removes all fractions from both sides).

3) Multiply out and collect like terms (since it's just W and a bunch of numbers, "like terms" means "like W-terms").

4) Solve for W.

3. ## Re: Rearranging formula

After re-arranging, you get a quadratic equation in W, not a straight-forward equation. Remember what johnsomeone said above, and solve the quadratic and then, use the resulting formula as the formula with W as one side, and everything as other side.
