# Math Help - I don't get this probem

1. ## I don't get this probem

A fashion designer orders fabric that cost $0.30 per yard. The designer wants the fabric to be dyed, which costs$100.

Write an equation that gives the cost c of ordering 5 yards of fabric as a function of the number of yards y that the designer ordered.

c = ?

So is c = 5(.3) = y(.3)? It's probably not right. :S

Not right, plus (sorry!) makes no sense...
How many yards does the $100 dye job cover? 1 yards costs$100, so does a million yards?

3. ## Re: I don't get this probem

It does not say anything about how much the dye will cover but I'm assuming it covers all. And I'm not sure if the problem is a no solution.

That's something to be talked with with your teacher....
