We are given to solve: Distribute the coefficients in front of the parentheses: Now collect like terms on the left. Can you finish?
is this right thanks for your help 6y + 18 - 4y + 8 = 20 -6y + 18 -6y +8 = 20 18 -10y + 8= 20 -18 - 10y -18 = 20 -10y-10 = 20 +10y+10= 20 y=20?
No. We have: Group like terms together: Now combine the like terms: All terms are divisible by 2, so divide every term by 2: Subtract 13 from both sides:
oh ok I see what your doing and what I am doing wrong Thank you so so much I really appreciate your help Thanks again
hi cocoa, Please look up into your work steps. i found that the symbol of -/+ was changed without any movement across the equal (=). 6y + 18 - 4y + 8 = 20 -6y + 18 -6y +8 = 20
ok thank you
Hi Is this right....wow I am having so much trouble here, but thanks so much!!!! 3(2y+6)-4(y-2)=20 6y+18-4y+8=20 (6y-4y)+(18+8)=20 2y+26=20 y+13=10 y=-3
hi cocoa.. i hope you understand every steps... for example: 1. why 2y+26=20 need to be divided by 2 2. how y+13=10 become y=-3 cheers.....
Thank you yes I do understand this problem I hope I can continue thanks again
this is what I think......thanks 2 divided by 2y=y 2divided by 26=13 2 divided 20=10
I would state: 2y divided by 2 is y 26 divided by 2 is 13 20 divided by 2 is 10 This is because when you say x divided by y, this means x/y.
right thanks soooooooooo much!!!!
hi cocoa, why don't you practice to solve below question. 3(3y+2) - 6(y-1) = 30 cheers....
