what is the value of cd?
ok i have no idea how to solve this problem. i tried to fix x to some arbitrary value and just could not get this problem to work out...

the problem says that c and d are constants and it wants me to find the value of the product??? any help on this problem would be appreciated....

i even tried to factor out the right side and add the negative of the right side to see if i could get something going, but i am really stuck....

Re: what is the value of cd?
Expand out the right hand side and compare it with the left hand side...

\$\displaystyle x^2 + 14x + c = x^2 + 2dx + d^2\$

You can see that 14x = 2dx and that c = d^2 so just go from there to solve for d, then c.
