    Exclamation Quadratics (Without Quadratic Formula)

Welll, I'm having some difficulties with some Quadratic Practice homework,
we haven't learnt the Quadratic formula yet, and we have a test tomorrow..
(This is Principals Math 11 by the way.)

im having difficulties with questions like this:

    3x^2-2x+3=0

    thanks for the help.

Hmm, are you sure you typed that question in right? From my understanding, there are no values for X in which this equation will equal zero.

Normally, for questions like this you'd have to pull the function apart into two separate terms, that when FOIL'd out will produce the given function.

    For instance, if one of your questions asked to solve (x^2 - x - 2) you would break it down into (x - 2) (x + 1).

have you learned completing the square?

    3x^2 - 2x + 3 = 0

    \Rightarrow x^2 - \frac 23x + 1 = 0

    \Rightarrow x^2 - \frac 23x = -1

    \Rightarrow x^2 - \frac 23x + \left( - \frac 13 \right)^2 = -1 + \left( \frac 13 \right)^2

    \Rightarrow \left( x - \frac 13 \right)^2 = - \frac 89

...this equation has no real roots, have you learned how to deal with complex roots? should i continue?
