Thread: Assistance needed involving simultaneous equations

Solve the simultaneous equations:

2x/3 + y = 16 and x + y/4 = 14

I've been given this as tutor marked assignment, and as of yet, haven't dealt with simultaneous equations involving fractions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you want to deal just with whole numbers, multiply each equation by its lowest common denominator (in this case, 3 in the first equation, 4 in the second).
