i cant figure out how to transpose this equation can any one help???? please

transpose the following equation to make V the subject

F=UV/U+V

It seems easy but i am really struggling!!

Re: i cant figure out how to transpose this equation can any one help???? please

$\displaystyle F = \frac{UV}{U+V}$

Multiply both sides by (U + V)

$\displaystyle F(U+V) = UV$

Expand

$\displaystyle FU + FV = UV$

Subtract FV from both sides

$\displaystyle FU = UV - FV$

Factor out the 'V'

$\displaystyle FU = V(U - F)$

Divide both sides by (U - F) to get 'V' on its own

$\displaystyle \frac{FU}{U - F} = V$

Re: i cant figure out how to transpose this equation can any one help???? please

thank you i got FU=UV-FV but completely forgot about factoring V

hopefully i will remember thin in future!!
