    Clarify answer?

    Given:
    Slope = 3
    Coordinate (1, 3) is on the line.

    Solution:
    y = mx + b
    Substitute given slope and coordinate and
    solve for b;
    slope, m = 3
    Coordinate (1, 3)
    x =1
    y = 3
    3 = 3(1) + b
    b = 0 Why they got b=0 and not not 1 for b
    Substitute into general
    form;
    y = 3x + 0
    y = 3x

    Re: Clarify answer?

    3 = 3+b

    b cannot be 1 or 3=3(1)+1 gives 3=4

    Re: Clarify answer?

    For the equation of a line with gradient m passing through the point (x1,y1) I prefer to use the formula y-y1=m(x-x1)
