    Re: factoring

    Hello, zbest1966!

There's something wrong with the problem.
    Please check for typos.

    2(a+b)2 + 5(a + b) - 3

    ans: [(2(a + b) + 1)][(a + b) + 3] . . . . This is wrong.

    \big[2(a+b) + 1\big]\big[(a+b)+3)\big] \;=\;(a+b)^2 + {\color{red}7}(a+b)\,{\color{red}+}\,3

    The correct factoring is: . \big[2(a+b) - 1\big]\big[(a+b) + 3\big]
