If the figure part of the stature of liberty is 3 feet shorter then the hight of its pedestal base, find the hight of the figure. The entire statue is 305.

let = height of figure

height of figure + height of pedestal = height of entire statue

write an equation using symbols in place of the words ... note that the pedestal is 3 ft longer than the figure.

this isnt my problem but i wanna help
i think its

pedestal =x

height of figure= 3ft shorter than pedestal
(x-3)

total height of statue is= 305ft

x+(x-3)=305
