    Math Word Problem formula help

    i cant figure this out

    calculate the gross pay, deductions, and net pay. Each employee will receive a base pay of $900 plus a sales commission of 6 percent of sales.
    After calculating the net pay, calculate the budget amount for each category based on the percentages given.
    Base pay $900

    Commission 6% of sales

    Gross pay Sum of base pay and commission

    Deductions 18% of gross pay

    Net pay Gross pay minus deductions

    I am not sure i i am doing this correct

    so base pay is
    X being sales

    900 + x
    would the sale commission be:

    Commission = 900 + x * 0.06
    or 900 + x *0.94

    someone help me sort this out

    Re: Math Word Problem formula help

    C = Commission amount

    Net Pay = .82(900 + .06C)

    No. The "base pay" is $900; it does not depend on x.

    would the sale commission be:

    Commission = 900 + x * 0.06
    or 900 + x *0.94
    Neither. The commission is x*0.06. The net pay is 900+ 0.06 x

    someone help me sort this out
    Suppose a person working for you had total sales $1000.00. If his net pay were "900+ x*0.94" you would have to pay him 900+ 940= $1840, almost twice what he brought in! How are you going to make any money?

    Will you hire me as a salesman?
