Thread: College Placement test

I am about to take a college placement test and for the degree I am pursuing I need to test out of elementary algebra.

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good book to study from so I can prepare for this test? I am 28 so it has been about 10 years since I have had an algebra class but I did not have a problem with algebra when I was taking these classes in the past. I definitely need a refresher though.

• I would recommend ALEKS.com for brushing up on your Algebra 1 skills and beyond as needed. It is the fastest way, and the more time you put in the faster it goes.

• I am not sure what state you are in and etc. but California uses the ELM ( Entry Level Math ) test for their CSU (California State University) system. There are some test prep materials available for free here: CSU Math Success: Exam Prep

A good book for elementary algebra would be any book you find in the library that covers one variable equations, two variable equations, systems of equations, polynomials, factoring, quadratics, and graphing algebraic functions.
