Need help solving equation
Hi all,

I'm not in High School but I figure the question is around this level so I'll post it here.

Essentially I'm trying to post this formula in excel, so I need to solve x, or have it so I can plug in the variables I know and get the result.

The forumla currently is

S = D - X / CX + 1.5V

S, D, C, V are all known.

Any help here would be appreciated. If you need any more information again please let me know.

S = D - X / CX + 1.5V

What is that?

Is it
S = (D-X) / (CX +1.5V) ?

Or,
S = D -(X /CX) +1.5V ? <-----cannot be.

Or,
S = D -(X /(CX +1.5V)) ?

Or,....?

Use brackets to make the meaning clear, if you gave such a formula to
Excel it would give you garbage, so why do that to us?

Lets assume you mean:

S = (D - X) / (C*X + 1.5*V)

then:

(C*X+1.5*V)S = D - X

or:

X*(C+1) = D -1.5*V*S

so:

X = (D - 1.5*V*S)/(C+1)
