Sorry if this problem is very basic I just know the right procedure. This questions are from a placement test I will be taking, so expect to see similar ones.

If you have four quarters, three dimes, two nickels, and two pennies, what fraction of the whole coin
collection is in dimes?

My procedure:
Total money(whole coin collection ?) is - $1.42


The right answer (given on the packet):

Sincerely, I had to look the answer up to not be embarrassed, which is something I won't be able to do in the test.

But to know if understand the concept they are asking me how many dimes, 3, are in the whole coin collection, 4+3+2+2 = 11?

Don't forget what a fraction literally is. It's saying what portion of the whole do you have.
