    Apply g to 0.85. If the result is less than or equal to -2, apply the first line in the definition of f to the result. Otherwise, apply the second line.

    It is bigger than -2 ,so f(.80)=2(.80)+3 ,right ?

    The greatest integer not exceeding 0.85 is 0, so g(0.85) = 0. Yes, 0 > -2, so (f ∘ g)(0.85) = f(g(0.85)) = f(0) = 2 * 0 + 3 = 3.
