    Are These Right?

Nonlinear inequalities in one variable. Quadratic inequalities, write the solution in interval notation.
    (X-5)(x+2)>(or equal to)0
    (X-5)((X+2)=0
    X-5=0 or X+2=0
    +5 or -2

    (-∞,-2]U[5,∞

    x^2-4x-12<0
    (x-6)(x+2)<0
    +6 -2 <0

so the set would be (-2,6)

I do not mind about the steps, I just want to know if these are the correct interval notations.
