# Math Help - Exponents

1. ## Exponents

I am stuck on a problem that states:

Simplify completely, assume all variables represent non-zero Real Numbers; the final answer should not contain any negative exponents:

I am unsure of what I'm suppose to do.. am I adding the inner exponents together (4+-3)??

You can perform algebraic manipulations only on powers with same base :

$a^x \cdot a^y=a^{x+y}$

$\frac{a^x}{a^y}=a^{x-y}$

$a^{-x}=\frac{1}{a^x}$

$\left(a^x\right)^y=a^{x \cdot y}$

Thank you!
