Thread: Solving Equation with variable?

Stumped on this problem.

It is:
Solve, showing all work:

2(9y-6)+2 = 18y-9


When I do it how I think it should be done, I get y=1 but when I plug 1 into the y variables, the two do not equal??

18y - 12 + 2 = 18y - 9
18y -10 = 18y - 9
-10 = -9

Solutions to such are called "no solution"!
