# Math Help - Percentages - Aptitude Test

1. ## Percentages - Aptitude Test

Hey guys, I was sitting a mock aptitude test - a practice one for Thursday. This question came up, I eventually worked it out (and half of my hair in the process), I was just wondering is their any tips? Or even an easier way to work this out, as the test is timed and every second is valuable time!

Any help is help, thank you for looking.

Uh, if you're still looking for help... here's my input:
Imho, it's always easier to think in decimals instead of percentages, so just move the decomal back two places from the % value to get the decimal.

total2 = 1/percentLets2*5.04 = 1/.4*5.04
hotel2 = .20*(total2) = .20*1/.4*5.04
car1 = .5*hotel2 = .5*.20*1/.4*5.04

total1 = (1/.12)car1 = 1/.12*.5*.20*1/.4*5.04
hotel1 = .2(total1) = .2*1/.12*.5*.20*1/.4*5.04 = 2.1

Sooo 5 steps?

I think you wrote down the "travel" multiplier (.25) instead of the "hotel" (.20) in step 7, although you have the right answer.
