Pls help with this question.
A hyperbola with equation y^2 + Ay +Bx^2 + Cx + D = 0, where A,B, C and D are real constants, passes through the point (5/3, 17) and has a maximum point ( -1, 1 ). Find A, B and C.

What have you tried? Where are you stuck?
You can substitute the given points into the equation, which gives you two equations for the four unknowns, but as D can be eliminated, I would probably then just differentiate and substitute in the maximum point's coordinates to get the third equation.
Please show your work because this is a lengthy question and it would be beneficial for everyone involved if we could pinpoint the exact difficulty.
Hi, thanks for the reply.
I have substituted the 2 pts into the equation and using the maximum property to form another one ( 2B = C). However these will only give me 3 equations which are not sufficient to solve all the unknowns.
You have three equations and the problem, as you stated it, only requires you to find three values.
