    Silver Alloy Mixing Problem.

    How many ounces of a 35% silver alloy must be melted with an alloy of 65% silver to produce 20 ounces of a 41% silver alloy?

    Hi usmcadam.
    Make a table
    20 oz of .41 = 8.2 silver required
    x * .65 = silver needed from this alloy
    20-x = silver from the other

    Now write the mass balance equation and solve for x and 20-x The x is in ozs
