# Math Help - simultaineous equations

1. ## simultaineous equations

I am not quite getting this equation right for some reason?

Equation;

4x = 4 - 5(x + 2)

4x = 4 - 5x - 10

4x + 5x = - 6

x = - 6/9 or - 0.66

When I check the equation I get answers of - 2.64 and - 2.7

These are obviously wrong but can't see where I am getting this incorrect?

Thanks

David

Your working out/solution is fine. There must be a typo in the question.

3. ## Re: simultaineous equations

Particularly since this is titled "simultaneous equations" but there is only one equation!

Sorry didn't miss one out, It was the wrong title

It should have read "algebraic expressions"

That reminded me of when they had solo "synchronized swimming" in the Olympics!
