1. ## Exponential equation

So I do not want the solution to this equation but I want to know how to solve this equation.

So I got this equation that I would love to learn how to solve ... and I am not to sure how to do the power thing so i am just going to use ^

e^5x-3 * e^-2x=5e

2. ## Re: Exponential equation

Is this the equation:

$e^{5x-3}\times{e^{-2x}}=5e$

Or is it this?

$e^{5x}-3e^{-2x}=5e$

3. ## Re: Exponential equation

the top one

e^5x-3 X e^-2x-5e

how in the world do you make those because i cant figure it out haha

Try learning latex but use the [TEX] tags, not the [tex] ones.

$e^{5x-3}\cdot{e^{-2x}}=5e$

Using the rule that $y^a\cdot{y^b}=y^{a+b}$, we get:

$e^{3x-3}=5e$

Dividing both sides by $e$ (applying the same rule used above):

$e^{3x-4}=5$

Taking natural logs of both sides:

$ln(e^{3x-4})=ln(5)$

$(3x-4)=ln(5)$

I'm sure you can finish.
