I don't get how you get k or c.
The y intercept is where $\displaystyle x=0$.
The asymptote is a point the graph will tend towards but never reach. When will a value for $\displaystyle f(x)$ not exist for $\displaystyle x=-1$? Hint: Consider the denominator.
