    Polynomial divison

yo , so heres the problem :

    I understand basic divisions and i can do X + 7x - 36 / -x + 3 .... with no problem.

But i just cant figure out what to do with the one in the image.
first step i try is multiply with x^5 to get x^8 ... but we get 2x^8 .... so when i substract i get -x^8 + 3x^6 ...... which kinda leads me in an infinite loop ?

the question is : what is the rest.

Any tip or documentation will be greatly appreciated.

    thanks, dave

    Re: Polynomial divison

If you want to use the polynomial divison then you have to use the fact that x^8=x^8+0x^7+0x^6+0x^5+0x^4+0x^3+0x^2+0x+0.

    2x^3 * kx^5 = 2kx^8

This is your first problem; you want one term of x^8, so what is k if 2k = 1?

    Thumbs up Re: Polynomial divison

i figured to start using fractions with the tip you gave me and from there it took me a while but i finally did it lol.

    1/2x^5+3/4x^3+9/8x, rest 27/8x^2
and if i do the multiplication i get x^8

    thanks !!!
