    Is this an exponential type question

    A group of people are asked ten questions, if they get 1 question right they get a £5, if the get two right they get £10, if they get 3 right they get £20.

    That isn't a question at all. Are you trying to find something?

    The formula you'd need to express it does involve an exponent. You're going to have to be more specific.

    It is exponential: 5\cdot 2^{n-1}.
